A romantic, mythical island, La Menou is tucked away in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of north-western France. Although some of the surrounding area has always been modern, this area is one of renewal, with new roads being built and old villages turned into holiday resorts. There are a small number of families who still live on the island, as well as a large number of cyclists, boaters, water sport enthusiasts and others who simply love La Menou. This article describes the main attractions of this beautiful area.

One of the best things about travelling to the island is that it is not crowded. You can see the landscape all day long and do nothing but enjoy it. There is nothing else quite like going to Menorca and discovering an island unspoiled by modern civilization, with its history and culture unchanged for centuries. It is also home to a number of charming villages which, with their cobbled streets, narrow cobbled pavements and shaded porches, give you a feel of being transported back in time. You can also visit the village of Cala Galdana, where you will find an old church and a couple of bars and cafes.

The island is known for its fabulous beaches, and for good reason. There are three great beaches on Menorca – Santa Eulalia, Playa de Dona Paula and Palma Nova. All are easily accessible from the main tourist centres on the island. There is plenty to do on the beaches, with everything from wind surfing and banana rides to cliff diving and paragliding.

If you want to get a taste of French cuisine then you should head to Plage de la Costiera. It is not very large but contains a small selection of restaurants, cafes and bistros. Some of them have their own outdoor terraces and you will be able to try a very wide range of different local dishes. There is also a modern town nearby, which offers a good range of shops and restaurants.

The island also has a rich history and if you're looking for an idyllic place to go on your holidays then consider visiting the Garifuna community of Saona. There are some beautiful settlements here based around a fishing village, which was formed centuries ago. There are traditional houses and some beautiful artworks, which are preserved by the Garifuna people. There is a museum as well, which tells the full history of the island.

There is so much to see on Ma Nyse that it's hard to cover it all in one article. You could try and visit the villages of Cala Galdana and Cala San Vicente, which are situated close to each other. You may also try and see the ruins of the old fortifications at Cala Galdana. This area was largely destroyed during the Second World War and is now a conservation area.

If you're more interested in exploring the island on your own then there are various hiking trails to walk along. Some are rough but they are well worth exploring. There is also Canasta Cana, where you can try and trek to the top of Mount Etna, but this trek is difficult due to the weather. You will find a lot of wild life on the island, and there is also some great limestone caves. There are plenty of opportunities to go scuba diving and snorkeling as well.

There is plenty of accommodation available on the island. Most hotels can provide rooms for overnight stays. Ma Nyse has its own airport, which is easily accessible from most of the main cities on mainland Europe. There are buses that take you to the island, and there are ferries that take visitors around.
